I am not going to review my own night (I hope someone will) as most of it I spend stuck on the door but the feedback was excellent and the last few hours was very much Horncastle style and extremely danceable. The facts: £132 raised for Cancer Research 132 souls paid on the door + DJ's and guests makes the attendance over 150 This was a very rewarding night and I would like to thank all who made the effort to support it. There was much pressure to have more and this confirmed that folk really do want a night here. We will make plans for more if not this year there will be a few in 2011. Already faintly pencilled in first Saturdays in May & Sept. Thanks to DJ's Chris Dalton Steve & Frank Martin Topley Chris Forrest Nick Borst When you get a guy who had a transplant only 8 weeks ago travel a 100 miles to give his support I think it tells you just what a great night this is. There were also quite a few first time visitors to Horncastle so hope they went away with a good impression certainly the atmosphere was electric all night and we could have gone on a little longer I suspect but the venue had to clean up before an early start for another function so 1.20am was as late as we could push it.

Glad to hear it was a great night. My folks live in Nottingham, so I'll make sure I'm on holiday down there next time - only an hour away...

okay so i'm late!!!!! i'm unemployed toooo busy trying to find a job but.... this is how i felt about it the morning after and still do: always have liked Horncastle, guess i always will so here it is, another positive review from me. to be honest people must be sick of me always going to venues and having a great night. someone once asked if i ever attend 'bad' nights, well, thankfully not in a long while. Horncastle's reputation has been built on atmosphere and across-the-board quality soul and tonight was no exception. it's been a while since the previous hotel managers said 'no more soul nights' so i wondered if, on it's re-opening, Horncastle could live up to it's past, and it did. missed steve & ray and caught only half of martin topley's set but the two chris' Dalton and Forrest certainly filled their respective hours up with soul music to die for. hearing lyn varnado, the matta baby, terry callier (joe) and tony clark (wrong man) amongst soo many tunes i love just added to the occassion for me, and occassion filled with atmosphere, people and revitalised and relived memories of this lincolnshire haven of soul. i hear there will be two events at Horncastle next year, (both 'campers') a pennies worth of free advice, try to catch at least one of them, you won't regret it. images on ournorthernsouls.org
