got realy exited when my local club started doing n soul nights went up packed to the rafters, same the following month, then after about 6 months people stopped going i'v sat all night and only heard 2 or 3 songs i knew, dance floor had maybe 6 people dancing funny how they had all arrived with the djs.i may not be as up on n soul music as many of your members but i like it and i want to dance, i dont mind listning to the rare ones but not all night a good mixture. i want some part of the night to take me back thats why i go out Hear hear. Exactly my view. Unless it's advertised as all rare soul then you expect to hear the normal floor fillers. This has happened to me often but then like you said people just stop going

A good dj has the Knowledge and the"nous"to fill a dance floor and keep it full of smiling faces playing what we all love to here for we are all of one mind Northern Soul Rules brings camaraderie by the joy of the music

Have you tried:- The Soul Cellar, Catholic Club, Doncaster Road, Barnsley. To be honest haven't been for a while as It was on the first Sat' of month and been busy with other things but it was a good night.

yeh, I mean I liked to dance to oldies at St. Ives in that small dark room ohhhhhhhhh, someone else who thought the oldies room at st ives was the dogs doo-dah's . that and M's are my 2 favourite places ever ! Brian Rae's belly over the decks, darkness apart from the light from a door behind the dj's, gym equipment stacked against walls to give us more room.... oh yes, St I'ves oldies room was ace!

Does it matter, realy how good the DJ is its the records we want to hear not some full of there self superstar dj. my favourite of all time was richard searling and not because he was a fantastic DJ, but because of the records he played, my one main bug bear was cover ups, which was rather popular with the new discoveries, and one track i still want to track down is country girl Covered as Christine Cooper but i havent the slightest idea who the real artist is/was.

I assume Dougie and Nick Borst but in the nicest possible way, that's what they're referred to round here when we indulge in friendly banter.
