Totally agree! 'Hold me in your arms' is a great track. The pity is I've never hear it played anywhere!

:)Whilst I have bugger all to do but sit with my leg elevated I was pondering this question and without going through loads of sounds I believe it's more than you think Forget the groups because by their very nature there's bound to be some backing vocals so concentrating on solo artistes, unless the song in my head is wrong or I've totally missed the point then the following are examples of no backing singers:- What happened to yesterday - Mr Soul/Al Scott Youv'e been gone too long - Ann Sexton I remember the feeling - Barbara Lewis Keep on keeping on - NF Porter Hurt on the other side - Jerry Cook etc etc Perhaps the question should be what records have been ruined by excessive backing vocals? One of my favourites is Marvins - my love for you but it annoys me when the backing singers repeat the line i.e 'I need so much' and ' out of my sight' etc ruins an otherwise absolutely stonking sound Aaaarrrrrrrrhhhh

I've got a two disc compilation of Major Lance's Okeh output and it has a track called "Get My Hat (Nothing Can Stop Me)" which Gene Chandler released as "Nothing Can Stop Me". While Chandler's track has all the bells and whistles of a proper production, the Major has no backing vocals at all. Somebody told me it was just a demo and the lack of vocal backing from either The Chanters or The Impressions would seem to indicate that the Major's version was never intended for release.
