there are sooo many great tracks out there that it would be unfair to recommend any to you as everyone has their own likes and dislikes but try any gene chandler, edwin starr or chuck jackson tracks to get you started then just build up your own favourites by listening and if you like it dancing.Sorry i cant be more helpful but there really are just too many to list and i wouldnt even try and tell someone what they should like .all the best and a happy new year

Would have to agree with Chris, look at 'Peoples top5' then find them on the music pages and take a note of any you like for future use and when you go to venues look for 'across the board sounds' so you get the chance to listen for all tastes. I personally am an Oldies fan because that's what I heard first but there are just so many good songs that would be classed as 'Modern' that I love. I hate these terms though because its all soul music to me. Some of my favourites are Freddie Chavez - They'll never know why.(Brilliant) Jackie Edwards - feel so bad Mr Soul - What happened to yesterday. Anything by Major Lance Anything by JJ Barnes though I prefer the Darrell Banks - 'Our Love' Tomangoes - I really love you Boby Hutton Lend a hand & Come see what's left of me Martha Reeves - No one there Gladys knight - No one can love you more and I love the 100mph sounds like the Triumphs - Coming to your rescue Too late - larry Williams and JGW but your unlikely to hear many of these as they are a bit out of favour!!!!! and on and on and on. So good luck, my only advise would be don't discard any tune on one play some you will like instantly some you will never like and many many more you will grow to love. If you're a 'beginner' to this I'm afraid it can be an expensive habit I sold a copy of the Showmen a couple of months ago on ebay for £60 so my advice is don't get into record collecting, it will 'Do your head in'
