Could be Tony Jackson & Vibrations cover of a Mary Wells song 'Bye bye baby'. Released on Pye - THE British blue eyed soul label. music.msn.com/artist/?artist=16142435&menu=songs&silentchk=1& He was the lead singer with the Searchers. But if that's it ......... I can't see what all the fuss is about. He also had a single titled 'Never leave your baby's side' on CBS in 1966. I'll try and find it.

its typical sixties retro music wouldnt have thought that one would have made the grade to the northern rooms its not the Chimes My baby's gone away is it? on down to earth? nice tune but a bit ploddy in its presentaion.

Dawn, There's quite a lot of stuff I wouldn't have thought should have ever made it into "northern" but then you probably realise my liking - good old 6ts r&B and soul. Not northern.

That is indeed true sir...lol but if thats the one Tony is on about, I think someone somewhere has lost the direction on this ... that is of course if i am listening to the right one.

Maybe he'll tell us when he gets back down from the ceiling after MUFC's Moscow trip.

Well I was much higher than the ceiling...well on the way to heaven!!!
Thanks for the help. This track is sort of a 'mission' now. Not all that special but I hadn't heard it before, liked it, so asked wot it was. For some reason bin sent up blind alleys so its made me even more determined to find out. If I do I'll let you know.

The second Tony Jackson tune was a cover of Martha & Vandellas "B" side to 'My baby loves me' (Gordy/TMG). Can't say I've ever heard it by them, though. One or two of the members of groups that first found recognition with black music left when the groups "anglicised" and continued in the genre. I remember seeing Eric Haydock's (ex Hollies) Rockhouse at Wolverhampton Civic Hall and he did a very creditable version of Homer Banks' 'A lot of love' not very long after the record was first issued in the UK.
