THE ROBIN HOOD EDWINSTOW
Well what can I say first time for me at this venue we pulled up about 8.45pm after a 30 min drive, the location was very easy to find being just north of the centre parks resort in Sherwood forest.
A large pub car park gives plenty of parking space, the venue it’s self is behind the pub in a medium sized out building possible purpose built as a function room.
As we left the car the sound of Don Thomas was drifting through the air, this set the music tone for the night plenty of oldies with just a smattering of cross over, we entered the venue the first thing I noticed was the lack of a barman who was already on the floor stomping his feet off .
Any way I digress the venue was not overly full but the people in attendance enjoyed the space on the floor and I have to say there were some very good dancer utilizing the space, some of the dancers I have noticed before at the Kingsway and at my own venue Retford Soul, a point to note the floor is very slippery no need for talc, I noticed one dancer putting on trainers just to get a little traction on the floor.
The quality of music was good plenty of oldies, two djs on the night Ray and Dennis , Dennis a little shy of the mic but that did not spoil the night plenty of dancing and foot taping going on.
The atmosphere was friendly no egos or elitist just how it should be and that fine with me.
Nice to see my old mate and regular Retford attendee Steve there also nice to have a chat with Ray and Mary promoters of the night I hope I’ve corrected a few untrue rumours about who promotes Retford.
In short the venue is well worth a visit I for one will be back.
Thanks again to Ray and Mary for a very enjoyable night.
