Last Friday was to be the make or break night for Retford, in September me and Gus came to the dissection that if our numbers were down then we would close the venue, I think a lot of clubs are considering this at the moment and some have even closed there doors.
Any way we coved our costs and after a chat with Tony from the Masonic Hall I am pleased to say Retford Soul is firmly situated for the foreseeable future. (Thanks to all involved at the Masonic Hall)
Now for the review of our first anniversary short and sweet.
As always the lads played up a storm plenty of monster oldies being played out big thanks to Steve, Jez and of course Gus for the past year I know the quality will go on through out 2009.
Now our Guest Smudge and Coops what can I say that has not already been said, Smudge played a cracking set that keep all in attendance on the floor, not surprising given his collection of records monster track followed monster track if only we had a few more people to enjoy them.
Thanks Smudge it was a pleasure having you grace our decks I hope it’s not the last time.
Now Coops, this chap has been a long time supporter of smooth soul all the way back to its conception in Grantham and every time he has played at one of our nights he has never disappointed and Friday was no different a mix of oldies and modern dance floor fillers keep the floor moving. Once again thanks for being with us on or Birthday Mick and thanks for your kind words and support.
To all who attended the night thanks and enjoy the DVD that includes Ash and Keith who jumped over that North South divide I hope you got back through customs ok.
Once again to all involved with the Masonic hall thanks for the life line and thanks for your kind words.
Oh ya November is BOGOF night ya two for the price of one so bring a friend.
