Well November has come and our night has gone but Retford Soul is still going on, numbers are still a little down but the tunes are still as great as ever.
It was nice to see some of the old faces making a welcome return and nice to see people travelling up from Stamford and over from Nott’s to join us on a night full of cracking tunes.
The night started very slowly but by 9pm a warm vibe floated across the dance floor as people began to warm up music being played.
First dj on the decks was our own Motown guru Steve who warmed the crowed with a classic mix of Motown and a fantastic tribute to the voice that was Levi Stubs Nice one mate.
Next up was Worksop's own Barley, this was his first appearance on the decks at Retford and possibly not his last again a fantastic mix of Motown floated from the decks dispersed by the occasional northern monster, Thanks for the set mate
Following on was Gez as always a crowd pleaser with classic after classic being played nuf said.
This month’s guest was Rob Yates “Sutton in Ashfield” again as seemed to be the flavour of the night a set of Motown and Northern being played, and much to the appreciation of the crowd a nice set of youth club tunes kept the floor humming. Nice one mate and thanks for coming over if I don’t see you before see you in January and don’t forget the cake.
Finishing the night of was yours truly playing a mix across the board across the decades as always only this time I was joined for the last half hour by Steve Greeney .
Big thanks to the staff of the Masonic Hall for keeping the beer flowing and for providing this cracking venue.
To all who turned out and you know who you are thanks for your support and to our guest Dj’s and Residents thanks for a great night see you all in December.
