Well the night started badly for us after attending a function where we were packed in like sardines on tables on wider then 12 inches and within half an hour some prat had already spilt a pint of cola over me and Tina.
The place was over subscribed with 275 tickets being sold but only room for two hundred at the most and that would pack it to the gunnels.
So we decided to leave and after a bath to wash off the cola and a quick change we were off to Sutton, we arrived quite late and the night was in full swing.
My first impression at first sight was yet another miners welfare club but what a surprise after paying out entrance fee we entered the venue , and what a cracking place a large wooded dance that just invites you to dance and the throng that were there had excepted its invitation and the floor was in full swing.
Plenty of seating around the dance floor and a well stocked and reasonably priced bar, and to top it off soul clothing on sale in the corner.
The venue was very well attended with souls for Mansfield, Nottingham, Newark, Retford, and Sheffield and I feel sure all areas in-between.
As I said we arrived late but the dj’s on the night Glyn Sissons Nev Shooter plus other including mine host Rob Yates had already play a belter of a night, and the two hours we were there were no different plenty of oldies with the odd 70ts monster fill the room much to the appreciation of those in attendance and there were many.
If you haven’t been to the Grosvenor Room in Sutton in Ashfield then get over there but be early if you want a seat, would I go back again “you bet I would “.
Big thanks to Rob and the lads for a great night see you soon mate.
