The good news is that the Macmillan Nurses Charity will benefit from the sell out. The bad news is that the night didn't work trying to mix the two gendres (6ts soul/r&b with classic Chicago r&b).I put my hands up to that. Both gendres played what was on the 'tin but 90% of the tickets were sold to people who wanted a soul/nostalgic night to hear sounds they identified with from their youth. There was a website for BluesTrain containing tracklistings and soundbites on all the advertising but in my ignorance i didn't realise that not everyone has access to a computer.A lesson learnt there. I must thank the band for persevering in what must have been an uncomfortable night for them.I also thank the djs Allan Swires,John Paul and Doug Hall for trying to retrieve the situation musically and for donating their time etc for the charity. Now Doug deserves a special mention. Not only did he donate the sound-system for the night he also played extended sets (Dave Woolley was snowed in !)and knew exactly what the floor wanted. When things weren't going well he did a great job as MC on the mic informing everyone as to the slight changes for the latter part of the evening. He even acted as taxi driver !My personal thanks again Doug. Thanks again for everyones help on the night. Glenn
