Crackin` night last night with a great selection of music. Due to the state of the country at the mo with the recession etc we dont get as far as i would like but a trip to see the gang at York is always worth it. The venue is a beat up and run down working mens club with a stage and room straight out of the 50,s but the floor is to die for.The music is good, sometimes safe and sometimes so obscure that Lord lucan was the last to play them.the Highlight for me was having a chance finally to talk to Coops.the guy is a real nice guy and his recollections aboutClees and the music turned the smoke break from 5 mins to half an hour.Top bloke looking forward to catching up again Mick .

Not going to go on about this event except, if you live within 50 miles of the place and you love traditional Northern Soul from the 60s to semi-modern…. Why weren’t you there? Co-promoters Harry and Di Crosby (who actually live 70 miles away) told me they often worry where they are going to put all the people that turn up on a busy night. On a busy night!!! Apparently this night was a bit “light on numbers”! You could have fooled me, the place was packed and it was rocking and, unlike many venues the paying public were arriving in numbers right from doors opening. The people were as friendly as the music. At times it looked like one very, very big happy family re-union and although it was our first time (and certainly not the last) these four travellers from Skegness were made welcome by one and all. I met more people in one night there than in the last four months of travelling to venues. Not only were the people there very friendly but they loved to dance and dance they did from the very beginning to Jimmy Radcliffe at the end. A fantastic night, classics played all night long and a ‘buzz’ that so many venues these days lack. On a personal note, for me two Yorkshire events in one weekend both, for different reasons were worth every mile of the ninety plus miles from Skeggy, God’s Own Country….. Not Arf! The next event here is on Sat 27th March and Yorkshire’s own Yocky is guesting
