Hi to You All,
Several weeks ago now I fell over an Online mention of a Vinyl 12" LP Album called the "Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra". What was of greater interest to me was the fact that it was referenced as being on a Classic Motown Pressing Label. As luck would have it, it was quoted as "Still Sealed in the Original Shrink Wrap". So I bit the Bullet, Paid The Piper, and Owned It !
Can anyone reliably tell Me/Us, who made up the Group called "Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra". Was there for instance the Fabled Funk Brothers and the String Section of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, known to have been part of the San Remo Golden Strings, involved with the "Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra".
Were any of the tracks from the LP Album called "Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra - Strung Out on Motown", ever played from the LP at any Northern Venue ?
Or were there any 7"[Inch] Single Cuts made as a Spin Off from the prior mentioned Album and played at any Northern Venue ?
I note with some interest that YouTube has several entries for the Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra, one of which quotes "Motown's Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra", no less. I must confess I never ever knew the group even existed at Motown !
Link to YouTube...
But that's nothing new, Classic Motown, and it's bits and pieces were a long kept secret to some of the world, involving and about, USA Releases Only. Meaning everywhere else, on the Entire Planet, went to Sleep in Total Ignorance. It was in later decades, outside of the Detroit Hitsville Complex... quietly hinted at, as, Promotion and Advertising, Goof Ups !
Apparently the Original "Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra - Strung Out on Motown" LP came out in 1982 on the Motown US Pressing Label . It's release Date would have been too late for the Holy Grail, Original big Northern Venues. But certainly never too late for newer NS Venues.
But is it Northern enough ?
Thanks for any info re the make up of the Motown Regal Funkharmonic Orchestra.
cheers
