Anybody spotted "Earthquake" by Al "tnt" Braggs on CD. I've got it on LP "Best of Duke & Peacock" but the CD of that album has dropped Braggs. I know he has no legendary status within the greater soul community but his stage act of the 50s & early 60s was the inspiration for James Brown & Prince. He was banned from many a venue for simulating sex with the mike stand - not too sure if that was an act or he was too ugly for the girls!

Presumably you've located this by now alan, and my offer to provide you with a copy could only be in the same manner as bill's. Strangely, when you first requested this, the title looked very familiar but I knew I did not own a copy on the Action label. It did in fact come out over here in 1966 on the Vocalion label and that's where I found my copy. Must confess I don't recall either playing or hearing it for years. As soulmanash commented on the General Board the Action label is interesting but it is a real hotch potch some re-issues, some contemporary classics and some, like Z.Z. Hill's 'Make Me Yours' not even coming out in the States. Afcgotsoul tends to see 1970 as a watershed and he knows I disagree BUT apart from the odd release (Bobby Patterson, Hoagy Lands) in my opinion the Action label had certainly lost the plot. 516 Back In My Arms Again The Supremes. Is that 5 consecutive number one pop hits in a row? I recall at the time being puzzled as to why The Supremes were eligible for an entry into an R'n'B chart!!!

Bill has my Vocalion copy unless he's unloaded it. It didn't really fit in the mix at the time - the tempo was just not quite right. Why it was re-issued on Action was totally beyond me. I just suppose they got hold of the Peacock back catalogue. But I quite like 'Back in my arms again' I'm afraid. And Bill (WI4012) just loves Wilmer & the Dukes da da da da da brass pattern.
