Feelings still run strong as to what makes a good night, what do you tend to listen to most and would influence your decision to go to a soul night ?
This poll is your chance to influence promoters.

Still prefer oldies with a sprinkling of r&b & a few quality underplayed sounds to keep it interesting. Crossover sounds for a sunday afternoon chillout but modern....no sorry! But then everybodys different & that's what keeps the scene so vibrant. What influences my decision to go is what it says on the flyer. As long as the promoters say clearly what their music policy is there shouldn't be a problem.

Got to be across the board for me to keep everyone happy. A sprinkling of everything keeps it fresh. Love oldies, R&B, modern, cross over, a little bit of latino, tunes that make the grade for the dancefloor whatever the decade. Dawn

Has to be oldies, this is the true northern soul, anything else is just hanging on to it's shirt tails as it cannot stand on it's own 2 feet

I vote for oldies, too. Maybe some oldies done by newcomers like Ryan Shaw could be added ... ;D He sings the h*&& out of Wilson Pickett's "I Found a Love."

Dawn 100% agree with this post.the scene was never about standing still with oldies,it is about interspersing unheard of stuff with oldies heard b4.it has to be across the board so people can enjoy tunes theyve never heard b4 amidst guaranteed floor fillers.

Oldies! I dont mind old RnB (not the sh**e new age stuff) Etta james RnB I'm not adverse to trying to listen but most of it just doesn't "do it" for me as described above spine tingling goose bump tunes and most of them are oldies they have a certain quality that can't be beaten! Mand
