Well what a surprise this night was.So much going on in the Lincoln scene with a big charity soul night with a live band that we thought would affect our night. How wrong were we? A slow start had us wondering if we were in for a struggle attendance-wise.It was all change by 10.30pm. The place filled up completely. So many new faces. The atmosphere was electric. The crowd spurred the djs on and the djs spurred the crowd on.The dance floor was still busy at 1.00am,'so much so that the djs kept playing way past the official 1.00am finish. This night really worked.Great to see Sister Dawn (ELSC) and Paul Ellis (Naval Club) on the decks together .A first for them both and did they work the crowd. From a personal point of view i believe the Ad-Lib residents Dave Woolley,Allan Swires and John Paul really do play top-class sets with their belting soul/r&b and in John Pauls case mod sounds. They really compliment each other and provide a few different sounds that may not be heard in the mainstream.I must also thank the people who supported us. The thing about Ad-Lib is that we don't really have a hard-core of followers who feel duty-bound to support our venue in return for us supporting "their "venues.People just roll up for the craic from all sorts of musical backgrounds. This is what gives the night a unique atmosphere. I may be biased but it really was a priveledge to be part of this night. Thanks to everyone . Glenn

Just a quick one Glenn to say many thanks for inviting me to djay, both Paul and I had a brill time and both of us have agreed to do it again sometime in the future at a venue. Chuffed to bits the crowd loved what we played. Love the Ad-Lib and will see you all again very soon. x

Glad you made it Dawn and happy as Glenn said that with everything going on that you had a great night, Adlib as is, a brill place to go and perform and to be allowed to play the Adlib "club" is a tribute indeed. only sorry I couldnt be in 3 places at once, so stuck at Cleethorpes playing a bit of across the board, with my eyes set on what is the place of lost souls and music of the same vein as my young days and that was a long long long time ago 6ts and born to it. Glenn keep up the good work.

Thanks for your kind words Dawn and Doug.I know we had a few in from Nottingham who thought it was great. They came because of word-of-mouth from a couple who came to our last event.Always good to get impartial feedback,be it positive or negative.Helps to keep a perspective on things.I believe most people who come to our nights get what we are about -early belting soulful r&b,club soul, hammond grooves, rarer uptempo r&b etc which was as you well know the format for the birth of the scene at venues like the original Twisted Wheel. It gives the Ad-Lib djs a wealth of material to buy into and seems to be striking a chord with the younger element who come with refreshingly open minds and accept the night and music for what it is. Screamin' Jay Hawkins sits comfortably alongside The Quick and can be joined by great club soul ! Jimmy McCracklin blends in with Ike/Tina Turner.Jr Walker belts out that sax while Tabby Thomas waits to join the party !
