Busy here now - even busier than b4 with 2 venues coming to the fore and all within 3 miles of mine must try harder ;D Went to Silverwood last night, about 90 in and enjoyed myself, always do when visiting others I suppose. Bumped into a few old m8s which was good and sold 10 tickets for my Boxing Day 12th Anniversary do Many of those attending were off to Soul in the Sun so all in good mood obviously. Enjoyed a couple of tracks, namely Carla Thomas & Jackie Lee and full spectrum played from mid 60s to early 80s so every1 happy - if thats possible at a soul nite Trying to get to Vault of Soul and maybe Annersley IF my lift ever gets here. C'mon Keith where r ya?

Tiz kin' incredible people do not think or even care when organising things like this. Had a good one a few years ago when someone from East Yorkshire fancied a go at promoting here actually in our own venue after seeing for themselves the loyal crowd we got, it was some sort of disco/act going by the name of Pilson Wickett or similar, now I went up on the night advertised and there was not a single car in the park or person turned up just the dj and bar staff. What he failed to realise was that our events are promoted within events and not with a flyer stuck on a lamp post. Oh how I larfed.

Agreed wholeheartedly Nick but it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth for sure. I ain't naming no names all I will say is I'm sick of reading how soul crowd are such wonderful folk blah blah blah and then these things happen - most of us are pretty good, some of us are nice and the minority (as usual) spoil it for others At least I don't feel guilty when I look in the mirror and shave - can't be thick skinned, allus been a bit sensitive with a GSOH (have 2b shaving this face ) maybe that's what soulful people are Here's my new flyer for my new event:- AGGRESSIVE & UNCARING EVENT NEW IN YOUR/ANY TOWN £1 CHEAPER OTD THAN PREVIOUS EVENTS I CAN RUN IT BETTER THAN ANYBODY BEFORE " SOUR CREAM SOUL" ;D I remember me mam years ago "there's nowt so strange as folk lad"

Went l8 to Rotherham Transport club, howling wind & lashings of rain but didn't deter a good turnout for a fundraising event for Rotherham Ladies FC - lots of youngsters in for a change and, speaking from a promoter's view, don't knock paying customers - good to see "potential" soulies in the making Really went to close the gap with a guest DJ I'd booked, Malc Quinn. Luckily he wasn't the jock who knackered a stylus big time late on but it didn't stop the good music - no offence to the guy who did it either, it happens Bumped into some old m8s Steve H,smithy, Fudgie Ian Turner & Lyn and Jill & Dave Venables - even got a belated apology Dave thanx m8 ;D Good cross section of sounds mainly oldies and dancefloor rarely empty - B Randolph's "Feeling" brought some applause and all in all a decent night. Sold another 15 tickets for Boxing Day so win-win situation. Thanx Fudgie for beer & kebab my turn at Chrimbo dude

Been "officially" invited to Kiveton Club this Friday - oooh get you! Its the old Vault of Soul lads who used to run Pond's Forge in Sheffield and seeing as I gave them their early breaks ;D think I ought to go and support them dont you? Its only their 2nd night in the new venue so I'll go to be nosey and find out how uncool I am/soul galore is/etc etc etc ;D South Yorkshire soul politics capital

Well where do I start? Took me 10 mins to find the door - its back room/function room of the pub BUT you gotta go all the way thru the car park round the back to get in Venue is small, low ceiling and dark - happy memories for many of us there - BUT dancefloor quite poor, dunno what the surface is to be honest but the lads who run it already done the prep and dollops of talc strategically placed around edges of dance area. Musically played some decent stuff, some known oldies some underplayed oldies and some new(well to me) stuff so good cross section. Attendance? If me & my mate hadn't gone there would have been a grand total of 7 in there Very disappointing but then again we've spoken about overkill many times b4 on here. What disappointed me was the "slagging off" another venue got, totally uncalled for IMHO and it was quite vehement as well. (I've no doubt I got the some of the same over the years at Soul Galore but I still don't like it and neither did they when I told 'em ) They adamant they going for monthly nights all next year so I wish them well. Now why the hell didn't I go to that Motown Charity Night in Tickhill instead

Twas bloody cold so HAD to dance to warm up ;D Numbers down but decent show of (guessing) 80+ incl a young lad doing the gymnastics on the dancefloor - yes I'm jealous cos a. He was younger than me(not hard) b. His knees were still intact Played plenty of "oldies" and "motown" and "solid NS". What suprised me was the applause that "Right Track" got - I say suprised cos many folk state its overplayed/fed up of hearing it - but they never post it under "Same old 50 records" do they? ;D For the record I still enjoy that record, gr8 intro - so there Overall decent night, good to see promoters from 3 other venues supporting it - yeah you read that right 3 other promoters supporting it - so well done Corner Pocket & Rotherham Transport & of course Soul Galore Flogged another 10 tickets for Boxing Day so happy daze are here again.
