Having seen Ian & Ann over the weekend they tell me £120 was raised for Action Medical research - thanx all who attended/contributed. Went to Victory Club Darnall on Saturday and, as usual, a good night with good choons and good people. Numbers slightly down but a good night still had by all. Al Billington played a cracking set including my fave 7 Souls as did Charlie & Barry. Think Charlie was still half on holiday in Greece or that he was on too early - ne'r mind m8 you still kept the floor busy. DJs open to requests all night and the polite ones got played ;D Nice little venue this always get good vibes and a nicer promoter in Roger you'll be pushed to find! Give it a try why dont'cha

Gr8 night @ Showroom, Sheffield. All the kids from KGB & Victory Club there so good night had by all - from what I remember anyhow SB's Grill Bar just outside the venue was tasty as well ;D Can't stop singing Shirley&Shirelles now ..........oooooh baby won't you look what you've done to my heart now Can recommend this venue, small yet quality choons with a massive slant for 6Ts soul - will put future events on calendar when known.

Weekend 17/18 Oct Didn't bother Friday night and had the choice of 2 in Sheffield Saturday night went to Victory Club at Darnall, Sheffield. As usual a cracking night, friendly crowd and gr8 choons played out. A coachload of "handbaggers" turned up, about 3 from 15 were into the music, the rest nearly spoilt it with their attempted mickey taking on the dance floor. Think Little Al and Syd put them to rights Must mention a cracking oldies set played out by Carl-cheers buddy and your on me guest list

Sat 25th went 2 miles into...................................Notts to support the initial night @ C Pocket Langold. The Mounsey Brothers from Mexbro C Pocket ran it and reckon they wish they hadn't Local "in-breeds" out in numbers with 6 soul fans (US!!!), shame really but there you go. Reckon it was a one off as no support from Worksop or anywhere really. Had a good laugh with Gaz Bri and wives tho specially when someone asked for Rockin' Robin..........by................ Diana Ross or Joe Dolce ;D Nuff said.......................

Thanks ash you'll get us strangled next time we go to Langold, it wasn't that bad there were one or two genuine soulies in who did ask for some decent records. But we just kept getting asked for Motown all the time and it had to be the run of the mill stuff, I played the Isley Brothers, Why when love is gone, and I was told they didn't know it, hence the Rockin Robin incident. The lady behind the bar really enjoyed it and kept on coming out for a dance, so not too bad a night we were asked to do another one and we are considering it , maybe next year.

8th Nov @ Thurcroft - phew taken some time to write this up - needed it to calm down!!! Best night of the 3 in new location, best sounds, best turnout and best weather Pete Caveman said I've got a tuff audience who like to listen (cos they dint dance to his opener M Gaye ;D) ah well he did 2 spots bless him and many thanx 4 the Al Greene track from eons ago which made my Brenda's day. Keith n Keith did the biz as usual and then it happened... As I'm packing equipment away the Chair of Committee came up and verbally abused me n Keith and told us never to come back I DID thank him for his diplomatic retort and then he explained that his venue doesn't like talc on floor nor does it like punters drinking their raffle prize and leaving the evidence Ah well their loss, so am looking elsewhere even though 2 weeks ago I agreed to run a "soul night" for their adopted charity - they can whistle now unless I get an apology And the secret supply drinkers were 2 soulies who promote another gig in south yorks - it gets better . Roll on 27th Dec @ The Lyric
