Saturday 16th May first time out in a month well I was in Turkey ;D Mossied across to Victory Club Darnall, Sheffield. Pleased to say that numbers were much higher than last time I went but music policy same, a bit of allsorts with 4 DJs spinning Particularly enjoyed Little Al's set which covered everything from Joe Tex to Tom Jones to the Chocolate Boys - a track which owes soooooo much to Ramsey Lewis it just isn't true As stated previously, Victory is a nice, small, friendly venue but even after 2 years of going I still can't get used to that damn mirrored wall ;D Check it out for yourselves!

Sauntered out to Magna on the Sheff/Roth border for their inaugral night on Saturday. Bit of a dear do, £5 to get in and £2.50 plastic bottles of Carlsberg, bottle of water £2 and the bar was 100 yards from the dancefloor Music policy mainly oldies with a good DJ line up including old mate Sean Hampsey & Kev Brisco. Thought the sound levels were far too high tho or it could have been the layout and acoustics of venue Gr8 turnout as expected on a 1st night but many seemed to leave around midnight for some reason. I enjoyed it, saw some old m8s who had come out of the woodwork and they putting another on in July as well as live act The Flirtations in October - ambitious? Aim high I say, good luck to organisers/promoters Sunday pm didn't make Renoirs (sorry Al) was buggered and had to do some decorating

Aye up Ash I went to Magna but didnt spot you mate saw Keith knocking around I must agree with you on the bar very pricey dance floor wasn't to clever. spoke to the organisers they said they are sorting the dance floor out for the next one and also try and get the bar a bit cheaper. I am sure the next one will be better. Renouirs was good mate had a great turn out a few left around 9.30 because Brinsworth was on but for the first one it was a great start next one will be June 28th

Sat 20th June had 2 drive so no booze but took my 28 year old son along - he's into Marvin Smokey & Jackie - felt like Alan Sugar, ya know the apprentice ;D Had a good night as is usually the case at Victory Club, Sheffield Numbers down but good friendly crowd and dancefloor well used. Carl Charlie & Barry all played good sets but for me Keith Toyne was the pick of the bunch with some lovely underplayed oldies - well done Sicknote ;D lets have more at ours in September! ;D 3rd Saturday of month - get down o Darnall Sheffield and give the Victory Club a go - tell 'em Ash recommended - Roger will have a fit on the door

My dicky metal induced left arm prevented me getting out on Friday so apologies to friends @ The Grange Rotherham & Horti Club Sheffield, maybe another time. Was tormented into going out by Ian Turner on Saturday so went to Victory Club Sheffield. Numbers down but quality sounds from 5 DJs thru the night. Good to see Rog behind the decks after all these years and YES I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THE TURKEY SOUL WEEK NEXT YEAR. Now I have to talk him into making the venue Altinkum cos thats where my apartment is and I got lots of contacts - over to you Rog ;D

Tails won so off to Wickersley Decent turnout, there tends to be when its FREE Met up with Gman(Corner Pocket) John Hiley and Gaz(Horseshoes) so had a good natter for a change. DJs played mainly to the floor which was full most of the night Music played mainly oldies with a smattering of underplayed oldies I might add which was appreciated. One lad closed his set with Sam & Dave's "Soothe Me" which went down a storm! All in all a decent night, would I return - you bet! Wickersley WMC (between Dinningtune & Rotherham B6060) give it a go why not
