Most of the poll records are Mickey Mouse sh*te anyway (apart from Snake).
Out of the proper stuff I generally cringe now when I hear:
Out on the floor ~ Dobie Gray Love Games A-Z ~ Royal Jokers Sister Lee ~ Sam Ward I'll Do Anything ~ Doris Troy Do I Love You ~ Frank Wilson (light touchpaper)

Oh no you will start an avalanche of hate mail on the subject of poor worn out Frank Wilson I am sure. I prefer the 3rd version of it anyway, yes you all know there is a Chris Clarke one and a duet and alt versions and instrumentals, but can there really be a version by another artist I am sworn to secrecy.

Any rnb record - they don't belong on the scene - I wonder how many folk would turn up to a solely rnb night huh

I'm pleased someone has had the guts to say that they don't like the Frank Wilson version of do I love you, The damage that the adverts do to our beloved northern eh!!!!!!!! I used to love the sound, used to make the old hairs stand up on the back of the neck, A traditional anthem on the scene.... I cant stand it now either, well not that version anyway.

~ and whilst we're on the subject, I can't stand Bok to Bach or Blowin My Mind to Pieces amongst others.
BTW ~ what are mb records?
Mills & Boon?

ahem!!
just realised ~ it's not mb it's R&B which I agree is sh*te as is virtually every bit of music in the hit parade nowadays.
when that garbage 'Lonely' can get to No1 you've got to question what the charts actually reflects in the nations music attitudes.
Rap, R&B, Hip Hop etc should be outlawed ~ IMHO it's not music!!!

there may be a hell of a lot of dodgy played on the northern scene, but when i turn on the radio and hear Bollox like 50 cenc and all that crap well things don't seem that bad

listened to skiing in the snow since 1976 and never got sick of it. the trouble with a lot of people is the fact they dare not be associated with records they first heard in the youth clubs. a form of snobbery if you like. people tend to hear newly discovered soul sounds for the first time and rave about these and push the sounds that have been with them almost a lifetime to one side. you never tire of good music whether you have heard it for the first time or almost forever. lets face it these records got you into the scene in the first place.
groove on soulsters.
